Paris Saint-Germain are enjoying another wonderful season, having already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title, and having a Champions League final to look forward to against Arsenal next weekend. It’s also been an extremely trophy-glittered period individually and collectively for star forward Ousmane Dembélé, and that has continued this Tuesday, with the Frenchman retaining the coveted TM Ligue 1 Player of the Season award.
Due to injuries and availability, he has actually only started 11 Ligue 1 games this term, but does have 10 goals and seven assists in the competition. And after over 100,000 votes, he was picked by the TM User to retain the award, but only just. Dembélé received 24% of the vote, narrowly beating his teammate Vitinha, who finished second with 23% of the vote. In third place was Lens’ Mamadou Sangaré with 13% of the vote.

How Ousmane Dembélé retained TM POTS
Back in September, Dembélé was crowned Ballon d’Or winner after his fantastic achievements for PSG last term, and once again this season he is a pivotal figure for the Champions League finalists. He has missed a lot of football, and eyebrows were raised when he won the Ligue 1 official Player of the Season, but the TM users also agreed that he should reign victorious. And there is little doubt that on his day, he is the league’s best player.

At TM, we also have a breakdown of which player received the most votes for the positional voting (goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, attackers). PSG’s Matvey Safonov narrowly won in the goalkeeper department taking 34% of the vote to Lens’ Robin Risser’s 29%. PSG’s Willian Pacho stormed the best defender section with 60% of the vote, whilst it was a similar outcome in the midfielders department, with Vitinha taking 62% of the vote. Dembélé won 50% of the votes for the forwards.
