Ahead of the World Cup, Transfermarkt have updated the market values of 606 players competing in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. The most valuable player at the top remains Palmeiras forward Vitor Roque at €38m. Behind him, two players now share second place, Botafogo’s Danilo (+€8m to €32m) and Flamengo’s star signing Lucas Paquetá (-€3m to €32m). Any other update, Paquetá going down would be the biggest story. But that won’t be the case this time. Instead, the focus is on Santos’ star Neymar.

Brazil: All new market values at a glance

Indeed, Neymar has dominated the headlines. Always a carnival in Brazil, the national team squad announcement ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup was a wild show. And the main protagonist was Neymar, who was nominated ahead of Chelsea star João Pedro. Despite all that, Neymar saw his market value downgraded by €2m from €10m to €8m. “For a player like Neymar to become the central question mark of World Cup call-up, with no clear conclusion whether he should still be chosen to play in the world’s biggest competition, means he’s clearly no longer the undisputed top figure in Brazil, and this downgrade reflects that reality,” Area Manager Brazil, Marcos Watts, said.

“Neymar is already 34 years old,” Watts added. “His market value adjustment from €10 million down to €8 million is the consequence of a nuanced situation: when he’s fit, he’s one of Santos’ best performers, contributing with goals and assists. But persistent injuries and the physical toll weigh in heavily. As he seems to approach the end of his career, this change reflects both the doubts about his medium-term reliability and the uncertainty around his part in the Brazil national team.”

Brazil market values: Danilo up by €8m – Paquetá lacks impact at Flamengo

Headed to the World Cup alongside Neymar are the two second-highest-ranked players in the Brasileirão: Danilo and Paquetá. But their market values went in different directions. Botafogo’s Danilo received a significant market value upgrade, from €8m to €32m.

“Danilo is in the form of his life – despite being a central midfielder, his goalscoring numbers are remarkable, and a much-deserved upgrade of €8 million speaks volumes about his 2026 season,” Watts said. Not only has the 25-year-old done great for Botafogo this year, but his debut for the Seleção was also stellar, and now he’s heading to the World Cup, possibly pushing for a spot in the starting XI. The market buzz is also strong, with reportedly significant interest from the top five leagues. So, this increase in market value reflects not just his current form but also his growing demand and the likelihood that he’ll return to Europe soon.

While also headed to the World Cup, things aren’t going stellar for former West Ham star Paquetá. “Despite arriving at his club under record-breaking transfer circumstances, Paquetá hasn’t quite made the immediate impact most expected of him, partly due to injury setbacks,” Watts said. “Though still valuable and a piece of Brazil’s World Cup squad, his selection came as a slight surprise to some. He’s not performing poorly, but he’s also not shining at his previous levels, and that’s reflected in this modest decrease. His market value remains high, but his status in the league could be shifting.” As a result, our team in Brazil decided that Paquetá needed a slight downward adjustment.

Palmeiras market values: Flaco López up by €3m – Allan in demand

At Palmeiras, Vitor Roque continues to set the standard in Brazil. But he isn’t the only player to watch at the São Paulo club. Striker José Manuel López and Allan saw their market values increase significantly. “Over the last three seasons, José ‘Flaco’ López has been increasingly better for Palmeiras,” Watts said. He’s recently earned a spot in Argentina’s national team, and while we’re still waiting to know if he makes the cut to join La Albiceleste’s World Cup squad, he’s likely in contention. Playing at a top club, still just 25, and with strong performances even after losing his attacking partner Vitor Roque to injury, there’s significant potential for international interest. His recent form solidifies him as one of the league’s top players.”

While Flaco López is up by €3m to €25m, another Allan could also soon garner European interest. “Palmeiras’ Allan is one of Brazil’s most promising young talents and has been attracting a lot of European interest – with the club having reportedly rejected several bids for the 22-year-old winger,” Watts said. “He has stepped up in a key attacking role this season and even after Vitor Roque’s injury, he kept his form with signs that his development, confidence, and consistency have soared.”

Although interest in Allan is high, that doesn’t mean he is off right away. “Palmeiras, both successful and wealthy, wouldn’t part with him for less than what they find acceptable, and only a highly attractive European offer would move them,” Watt said. “That market dynamic, combined with his talent, gives him market leverage. He’s developed consistently, stepped up when needed, and that’s why his value now places him among Brazil’s most valuable.”

Brazil market values: Kaio Jorge down – Gabriel Mec up

Still in the top three but with a minor drop to €25m is Kaio Jorge from Cruzeiro. “Kaio Jorge’s 2025 season was his best ever, and he started this year strong too,” Watts said. “But once the Campeonato Mineiro ended, his momentum dropped heavily. A few months ago, some thought he might be selected for the World Cup. Now, with fewer goals than expected under a struggling Cruzeiro, we’re seeing the first real slowdown in his performance since re-joining Brazilian football. This slight downgrade reflects that shift: he’s still one of the most talented strikers in the country, but he has failed to keep last year’s standards.”

On the up, in the meantime, is Gabriel Mec from Grêmio. “We’ve moved Gabriel Mec’s value up from €12 million to €16 million,” Watts said. “Earlier this year, I highlighted his technical brilliance – creativity, ball control, and dribbling – and now he’s fully backing that up. In just a few months, he’s become a standout in this Grêmio squad – a key figure in a team that began the season with uncertainty but now shows growing promise. His talent, development, and importance are driving their shift in momentum. With his immense potential, he’s not just one of the brightest young stars; he’s now a major factor in his club’s upward trajectory.”

As always, there are some great talents to keep an eye on in Brazil as well. Two players that could soon be in the notebooks of European top clubs are Cruzeiro’s Jonathan Jesus and Flamengo’s Evertton Araújo—more on those two below.

Brasileirão talents to watch: Jonathan Jesus and Evertton Araújo are stars on the rise

“Jonathan Jesus is a composed, tall, and physically strong centre-back who’s shown impressive ball control and distribution, with quick game-reading skills and confidence to make tougher passes,” Watts said. “Despite his young age, he’s tactically mature, with precise tackling – waiting for the perfect moment to get the ball from an opponent – and a strong awareness of the game. He’s absolutely one to watch for Brazil’s future. Transferred two years ago at 19 from Ceará to Cruzeiro for €1.4 million, he’s become one of the most promising young centre-backs in the country. Starting at a market value of just €200,000, he’s now at €8 million (+€5m in this update), rising rapidly due to his impressive development. At 21, he’s already drawing European interest, and while a move abroad could come soon, Cruzeiro may hold out knowing they’ve got a composed, rising star on their hands.”

At Flamengo, Evertton Araújo saw his market value double from €5m to €10m. “Not every young player gets the chance to establish themself in the strongest squad in the country, but Evertton Araújo, a 23-year-old defensive midfielder, has done just that,” Watts said. “He combines exceptional physical intensity with strong passing accuracy, tactical intelligence, and real dynamism in his positioning. Defensively, he is very reliable, but he has also shown he can contribute going forward, choosing the right moments to support the attack and even adding the occasional goal.”

The most remarkable thing, though, is that Evertton Araújo is doing it at one of Brazil’s biggest clubs. “He is not playing for a club short of options – he is competing with experienced, world-class veterans such as Jorginho (-€1m to €4m) and Saúl for a place in what’s arguably the best squad in the country. Earning his minutes, performing consistently, and becoming increasingly important at just 23 says a lot about his level and mentality. His development has been clear, and his profile as a modern, all-round defensive midfielder naturally attracts attention from Europe. Given Flamengo’s financial strength and squad quality, they would not need to sell him cheaply, so any future move would likely require a significant offer.”

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
