France’s Ligue 1 becomes the last of the top five leagues to receive a market value update this March. Overall, 187 players competing in the French first division received new market values. At the very top, there is very little change with the top five most valuable players remaining unchanged. At the very top are PSG’s Vitinha and João Neves with a market value of €110 million. Still, there has been significant movement among the very top players, and a future Liverpool star, Jérémy Jacquet from Stade Rennes, is the biggest winner in the update.

Ligue 1: All new market values at a glance

“For years, French center-backs have been very attractive in the transfer market,” Transfermarkt Area Manager France, Ronan Caroff, said. “Jacquet is the most recent case of that trend. Liverpool paid up to €72m for him. His market value before the transfer was €20m, and today it more than doubles.” Jacquet saw his market value increase by 175%, from €20m to €55m. “It doesn’t quite reach his transfer fee, but there is potential there to reach an even bigger market value quickly. We have no doubt that he will quickly settle at Anfield and overcome the shoulder injury that he suffered in February.”

Another young player with a significant upgrade is Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi. The 18-year-old midfielder saw his market value increase by 25% from €40m to €50m. “His talent continues to attract the eyes of the best clubs in the world, and he could leave as early as next summer,” Caroff said. “He’s now fully a starter for Lille, a metronome in the midfield, and well composed despite his young age.” There is also some significant intrigue around which national team he might opt to represent. “Morocco might be able to snatch him, even though he has represented France at the youth level. France have a very deep midfield, and he has not been able to break into the squad yet.”

Ligue 1 market values: Updates for Monaco stars Balogun and Akliouche – Endrick rebounds in Lyon

US men’s national team striker Folarin Balogun and his Monaco teammate Maghnes Akliouche are also big winners of the update. Balogun saw his market value increase by €8m from €22m to €30m. That’s a huge reversal in fortune. “After a nightmare 2024/25 season in which he saw his market value drop from €30m to €18m, Balogun is once again on the rise,” Caroff said. “He is now a consistent scorer and has led Monaco back onto the road towards European qualification. For him personally, he is hitting top form just ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America.” All of that led to him returning to the €30m benchmark he hit back in the 2023/24 season.

Also in good form is his teammate Akliouche. “He is one of the most attractive young French players in the league for foreign clubs,” Caroff said. “This season, he became a French national team player and has been in excellent form this season.” Akliouche saw his market value increase by €5m to €50m. How much longer will he stay in Monaco? “Other than a rumor linking him to Tottenham, it was relatively quiet around him,” Caroff said. “But with a contract running until 2028, there was no need to rush a transfer, which could change this upcoming summer.” Without a doubt, Akliouche will be one of the big names to watch this upcoming transfer window.

Another name to watch is Endrick. On loan from Real Madrid at Olympique Lyon, the 19-year-old striker has increased his market value from €25m to €35m. That is exactly the sort of development Real were hoping for when they sent the talented Brazilian out on loan to France in January. After all, Endrick saw his market value drop by €35m after joining Real from Palmeiras almost two years ago. “After being almost invisible in Madrid, his loan to Lyon has breathed new life into his career,” Caroff said. “Although he has been in excellent form, he wasn’t called up to the Brazilian national team.” Still, there are now signs that Endrick could indeed become a top striker in European football.

Ligue 1 market values: Diego Moreira becomes Strasbourg’s most reliable asset

There were once again several market value upgrades at BlueCo-owned Strasbourg. Valentín Barco and Joaquín Panichelli (+€10m to €35m) and Diego Moreira (+€7m to €25m), in particular, stand out. “In a Strasbourg roster filled with talents, Diego Moreira is one of the most reliable assets,” Caroff said. “Able to play both on the right and left, he is a typical attacking full-back. Now a Belgian international, Moreira experiences his biggest ever market value update.” Overall, it has been a great market value update for Strasbourg, with the club’s squad value increasing by €68m. Only RC Lens (+€73.45m) had a bigger squad value increase as part of the update.

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm ( you can find the detailed market value definition here ).
