It was another landmark evening in Mohamed Salah’s incredible career as he inspired Egypt to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final. Egypt progressed to their last four clash against Senegal with a thrilling 3-2 win over the Ivory Coast with Salah prominent. After Omar Marmoush scored Egypt’s opener, Salah assisted Ramy Rabia’s second goal before scoring the third to seal the win.

The 33-year-old has endured a difficult season at Liverpool with Arne Slot dropping him and Salah making his unhappiness abundantly clear. But the winger has enjoyed an excellent AFCON with four goals in four games. His goal and assist against Ivory Coast brought up Salah’s 100th goal contribution for Egypt and we’ve analysed how that ranks amongst the quickest players to reach that international milestone.

Fastest player to reach 100 international goal contributions

Salah required 111 games to reach 100 goal contributions for Egypt, which makes him the third fastest player to reach that landmark. The Liverpool star has scored 65 goals and provided 35 assists for the Pharaohs and he will now be determined to win AFCON for the first time. As the graphic below illustrates, Pelé reached 100 international goal contributions faster than any other player.

The legendary Brazilian needed just 77 games to reach the milestone and he finished his career with 77 goals for his country. Neymar is the only player to score more goals for the Seleção and he ranks second. The former Barcelona star required 94 games and he is the youngest player in history to reach 100 g/a for his country, achieving it at just 26. The top ten list is stacked with iconic players with Lionel Messi in sixth and Cristiano Ronaldo ninth.
