While the 2025/26 season has now officially shut, the summer transfer window for many of Europe’s top leagues has yet to start properly. The Premier League’s summer transfer window technically opens on June 15, with Serie A’s opening on June 29 and the rest of Europe’s top leagues’ opening on July 1. As such, the world of football finds itself in a bit of a limbo, as it sits in anticipation of the big transfers that could come to define next season’s major leagues. So, which players can we expect to see making moves in the coming weeks and months ahead? By using Transfermarkt’s Rumour Mill forum, we’ve compiled a list of the players who have garnered the most rumours from different clubs since the start of 2026. And, as such, we have a definitive list of the most-wanted players across the world at this moment in time.

In fifth place on the list is Ajax star Mika Godts, who has been linked with moves to an impressive 11 clubs since the turn of the year. That, undoubtedly, will be due to the young winger proving to be one of the few positives to come from a season that most Ajax fans will look to quickly forget. Over the course of the last 12 months, Godts has bagged an impressive 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 games and seen his market value rise from €10m to where it now stands at an impressive €35m, leading to the young winger being linked with moves to RB Leipzig, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

In fourth place is an impressive defender in the form of Jacques Ekomié. After joining Angers in Ligue 1 on a free transfer from Bordeaux in the summer of 2024, the 22-year-old full-back has gone from strength to strength in the French top-flight, playing 33 games across all competitions for Angers last season. In that time the Gabon talent has seen his market value skyrocket from just €700k to where it now stands at €9 million, which is in no small part due to the number of clubs that want to sign him. Since the start of 2026, Ekomié has been linked to no fewer than 12 clubs from Germany, England, Spain, France, and as far away as MLS.

In joint-second place is attacking midfielder Arijon Ibrahimovic. The German talent is a graduate of Bayern Munich’s youth academy and is still on the books of the perennial Bundesliga champions, but over the course of the last season, the 20-year-old talent was on loan at Heidenheim and caught the eye of numerous clubs due to his performances for the German minnows. His impressive performances despite his young age saw his market value rise by €6m last season, and since the turn of the year Ibrahimovic has been linked with a move to 13 clubs – many of which are other Bundesliga sides that would love to loan the player next season, alongside English sides like Brighton and Crystal Palace who would likely hope to sign the player on a permanent deal.

Another player that has also attracted the interest of no less than 13 potential suitors is Botafogo midfielder Danilo. Although the 25-year-old talent only made his return to Brazilian football last summer, when he departed Nottingham Forest in a deal worth €23m, the Salvador-born talent has excelled in the Brazilian Série A. As a result, the midfielder has been heavily linked with a prompt return to Europe, with Atalanta, AC Milan and Newcastle all among several clubs that have been tipped to make a move for him once his World Cup campaign with Brazil concludes.

First on the list of most-wanted players on the Transfermarkt Rumour Mill is a relatively unknown quantity in Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh. Having made the move to Norwegian side Tromsø last year, Kinteh quickly established himself as one of the best central defenders in the Eliteserien and has subsequently seen his market value rise from €1.8m to where it now stands at €7m – making him the most valuable central defender in the Norwegian top-flight. That has led Kinteh to being linked with no fewer than 15 clubs, including Leeds, Norwich, Manchester United and RB Leipzig.
