While some clubs rely on their star players scoring the vast share of goals, others spread them around the team. It’s a major asset to have various goal threats in a team as it means the opposition must be alert and can’t really focus on individual players. While the vast majority of goals are scored by forwards and attacking midfielders, there’s been some famous goalscoring defenders over the years like Ronald Koeman, Sergio Ramos and James Tavernier. Using our vast database at Transfermarkt, we’ve analysed which top five league clubs have had the highest number of different goalscorers this season.

The clubs with the most different goal scorers this season

Two clubs are tied in first place – Brighton and Elche – with both clubs having 22 different goalscorers this season across all competitions. The Seagulls’ top goalscorer is Danny Welbeck on 14, which includes 13 goals in the Premier League. Portugal international André Silva leads the way for Elche with all 10 of his goals arriving in LaLiga. Both clubs play their final games of the season this weekend, so there is scope for them to claim the outright lead.

As the graphic above illustrates, Roma and Atlético Madrid are level in third place with 21 different goal scorers. Julián Alvarez is Atletico’s top scorer with 20 goals in all competitions with Donyell Malen leading the way for Roma with 13. Eight clubs are level on 20 different scorers including several who have lifted silverware this season; Arsenal clinched the Premier League title, PSG won Ligue 1 once again and Aston Villa were crowned Europa League champions.
