Spain’s LaLiga becomes the fifth and final top league to receive new market values ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Altogether, 505 players received new market values, and there has been a small change at the top. While Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal remains first with a market value of €200m, he no longer has to share the top spot with Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé. The French forward is among the many downgrades at Real Madrid, seeing his market value decline by 10% from €200m to €180m.

LaLiga: All new market values at a glance

“Mbappé’s individual class is obvious for everyone to see, statistically, as well; it was another strong season,” Transfermarkt Market Value Admin Spain, Tobias Blaseio, said. “But he is one of the main protagonists within the upheaval that has engulfed Real Madrid. He has won only two minor titles with the club: the UEFA Super Cup and the Supercopa. That’s just not good enough given his high standards. He will also turn 28 at the end of the season, which in his market value category can be considered an advanced age.”

The French forward wasn’t the only player at Real Madrid impacted by the chaos at the club. Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior saw his market value drop by €10m from €150m to €140m. “It is his third downgrade since the end of 2024,” Blaseio said. “As is the case with Mbappé, the performances on the pitch are still there. But alongside Mbappé, he is a major reason for the constant chaos at Real, which, in theory, also depresses his market. The expectation is that he will renew his expiring contract. But that’s not entirely certain either.”

LaLiga market values: Bellingham drops due to form – Álvarez back up to €100m

Another star at Real Madrid who has been downgraded is Englishman Jude Bellingham. But here, the main reason wasn’t off-pitch issues but rather his form. “Bellingham is another player among Real’s top stars to lose in market value,” Blaseio said. “His season was influenced by injuries and an inconsistent form; it has been some time that he was at his best. It also isn’t clear what his exact role is in the squad as he lacks the creativity and courage that players at his market value level must show at a regular basis. If he doesn’t turn this around soon, then his market value will continue to drop.”

The news was better for city rivals Atlético Madrid, where star striker Julián Álvarez is back up to €100m. “He is already a big name for this transfer summer as a move to another club is possible,” Blaseio said. “Álvarez stood out in the Champions League, where he often was a difference-maker. ” His transfer fee is likely to be more than €100m as Atlético are in a strong negotiation position. The feeling is that they will await and see his World Cup performances, which could increase his price even more. It will also be interesting to see how Álvarez will handle the situation. Will he put pressure on the club to force a move? He failed to make a commitment to the club, which has been seen critically by many Atlético fans.” Given the dynamics on the transfer market, an increase of €10m, therefore, seems conservative, but don’t be surprised if another market value increase is around the corner if Álvarez plays a strong World Cup.

Not at the World Cup is left-back Matteo Ruggeri, whose country, Italy, failed to qualify for the tournament. Not that Ruggeri can be blamed for his country’s failure; the 23-year-old wasn’t part of the squad that failed to get past Bosnia in World Cup qualifying. But Ruggeri, whose market value is up by €8m from €20m to €28m, is certainly one for the future. “He needed the first half of the season to acclimatize,” Blaseio said. “That’s quite common for new signings who need to get used to Diego Simeone’s tactics and intensity. But his very calm mentality has made him an anchor in defence. He works hard, and his crosses are dangerous. Always willing to learn, he shows the potential to grow even further as a player.”

Raphinha among downgrades at Barça – Upgrades at Real Sociedad

There were only minimal adjustments at Barcelona. Among them was a small downgrade for Brazilian winger Raphinha. “With Raphinha in the squad, Barcelona are without a doubt better,” Blaseio said. “But unfortunately, he has really struggled with injuries this season. On top of that, he is already turning 30 in a few months, which means we have to adjust his market value downwards—at this age it takes something significant to retain your market value.” That wasn’t the case for Raphinha, who saw his market value drop by 12.5% from €80m to €70m.

Headed up in market value are two players from Spanish Cup winners Real Sociedad: Jon Martín (+€5m to €25m) and Órri Oskarsson (+€8m to €20m). “Jon Martín’s development has been stable for more than a year,” Blaseio said. “The young center-back is a personality on the pitch. He is very strong positionally, has good anticipation, times his tackles well, and plays a good opening ball, which allows a fluid transition to the attack. In principle, he has all the attributes needed from a modern center-back. It will be interesting to see whether he will make the move to an international top club.”

Although he has developed well this season, Oskarsson is expected to stay at Real Sociedad. “After struggling for two years, it has finally clicked for the Icelandic forward,” Blaseio said. “Signed for €20m in 2024, the expectations were high in the striker, but he struggled to find rhythm and often had physical problems. But after the arrival of head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, his situation changed. He has received more playing time and has been lethal in the last quarter of the season, scoring every 92 minutes. If fit, he will be a key player for Real Sociedad next season.”

LaLiga market values: Alberto Moleiro up by 25% – Victor Muñoz and Carlos Espí two players to watch

One of the big winners of the update is Alberto Moleiro from Villarreal. The forward saw his market value increase by €10m from €40m to €50m. “He has finally achieved his breakthrough,” Blaseio said. “That’s thanks to a great environment at Villarreal where he was signed as a replacement for Álex Baena (-€5m to €40m), who was sold for €42m to Atlético. He is often compared to Pedri as they look similar, have similar technical abilities and are from the same region—they both grew up in Tenerife and played in Las Palmas’ academy. But Moleiro is far more attacking-oriented than the Barça midfielder. Moleiro’s goal is going to be to move away from being compared to Pedri and become his own player.”

One player to watch at this upcoming World Cup is winger Víctor Muñoz from CA Osasuna. “The World Cup could be a big stepping stone for the winger, who was one of the big surprises this season,” Blaseio said. “He arrived from Real Madrid and was given a quiet environment and playing time to develop. Because of the restructuring at Real Madrid, he could return to the Spanish capital, especially as Los Blancos are planning to have more Spanish players. Real Madrid have a buyback clause over the next three years. But even if that clause isn’t triggered, Osasuna will have a hard time keeping the player, as top clubs from all over Europe are interested. The expectations are that it would take €40m to sign the forward, of which half would go to Real Madrid.” As a result, Muñoz saw his market value increase by 50% to €30m, and it could be even more following a strong World Cup.

Up by 700% from €2.5m to €20m is Carlos Espí from Levante UD. “He is like Phoenix out of the ashes,” Blaseio said about the 20-year-old striker. “His goals prevented what seemed like certain relegation. He only just missed out on being called up to the World Cup. That won’t stop any clubs from triggering his €25m exit clause, which could be a steal on this summer’s transfer market. The market is looking for big physical forwards who can finish and are strong in the pressing. He isn’t just a box player either. It is a rare profile and nowhere near has reached his full potential yet.”

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
