Upgrade to €150m

Pedri was handed a €10 million upgrade in Transfermarkt’s latest market value update of LaLiga, taking his valuation to €150 million and pulling him ahead of Jude Bellingham in the global rankings. The upgrade places the Barcelona midfielder just behind the elite €200 million bracket occupied by the very best players in world football but makes him the most valuable midfielder in the world. And reflects a broader consensus that has been building throughout the 2025/26 season: under Hansi Flick, Pedri has become indispensable.
It is a rise that will not surprise those who watch Barcelona closely, even if his numbers do not immediately leap off the page. As Transfermarkt’s Stefan Bienkowski, Manu Veth and Tobias Kröger discuss in the latest episode of the Market Values podcast, Pedri’s influence is often most visible in his absence, with his importance becoming clearest when he is not on the pitch. Kröger goes as far as drawing a comparison with Andres Iniesta, the Barcelona legend Pedri himself idolises, describing him as everything you want in a central midfielder. It is a significant compliment, and one that speaks to why Transfermarkt’s human-led valuation process captures what algorithms cannot.
The upgrade also invites a sobering parallel. Not long ago, Pedri and fellow Barcelona midfielder Gavi were considered peers, operating at a similar level and on comparable trajectories. Gavi’s market value once stood at €90m and now sits at €30m, the consequence of persistent injury problems that have disrupted his development at a critical stage of his career. Pedri, by contrast, has largely avoided serious setbacks and is reaping the rewards. The divergence between the two serves as a reminder of just how fragile a footballer’s market value and career can be.
