RB Leipzig have turned down an offer worth €90m plus €10m in add-ons for Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from Liverpool. Transfermarkt can confirm an initial report by The Athletic that an offer has been made. Transfermarkt also understands that Liverpool are willing to spend up to €100m for Diomande. Sources with direct knowledge of the situation have told Transfermarkt that Leipzig is not prepared to sell the player unless a significant offer arrives.
Indeed, Leipzig’s position is that they would sign Diomande to a contract extension this summer. As previously reported by Transfermarkt, Leipzig want a fee significantly above €100m. Sources reiterated that stance to Transfermarkt on Thursday, quoting a figure in the €130m range. The club believes that Diomande is a prospect similar to Florian Wirtz, for whom Liverpool paid €125m plus significant add-ons, which could bring the deal to €140m, last summer.

While both sides remain in open dialogue, there is no guarantee that Liverpool will be able to land the winger this summer. Indeed, Leipzig expects other clubs to enter the conversation. PSG are one club that has shown interest. Diomande, for his part, has not allowed the transfer talk to impact his performance. “I didn’t think everything would go this fast,” Diomande said in an interview with Transfermarkt in May. “I have a contract for four more years,” Diomande said while pointing at the RB Leipzig logo on his training shirt.
Who is Diomande? Dynamic winger stars for club and country
Diomande was one of the rising stars in the Bundesliga last season. Signed for just €20m from CD Leganés last summer, Diomande managed 13 goals and ten assists in 36 games across all competitions for Leipzig. The 19-year-old, who is represented by Roc Nation, also made his senior national team debut and has scored three times in 11 games. Extremely fast, dynamic, and with an incredible ability to turn with the ball at high speed, Diomande was excellent against Ecuador in the opener, even if he didn’t directly contribute to the scoresheet.
