Whilst the Premier League run-in is hotting up, for four teams, attention turns to the FA Cup this weekend, with the semi-finals getting underway in the capital. Manchester City will face Southampton on Saturday, before Chelsea go head-to-head with Leeds United on Sunday. As tradition goes, both of these matches will be played under the famous arch at Wembley stadium.

The new Wembley re-opened in March 2007, and has since hosted a plethora of historic matches. But which club has had the most success at the north-west London venue? Here at Transfermarkt, we have calculated the teams with the most wins at the new Wembley. We have only included the EFL Cup finals, the FA Cup semi-finals and final, and the occasions in which Wembley has hosted the Champions League final. To keep it fair, we have excluded games where Tottenham played their home matches at Wembley whilst their new stadium was being built.

The most successful clubs at Wembley

Leading the way, unsurprisingly, are Man City. The Sky Blues have been to the new Wembley 23 times, winning on 16 of those occasions. In that period, they have won three FA Cups and seven EFL Cups. In second place are another of this season’s FA Cup semi-finalists in Chelsea. The Blues have also been to Wembley 23 times, but have only won 13 of those matches. Manchester United are third, having won 10 of their 17 trips to the iconic ground. Arsenal have been to Wembley 12 times, winning on eight of those occasions.

Liverpool are fifth, winning six of their 10 trips to Wembley. FA Cup holders Crystal Palace actually take sixth, with an impressive three wins from five trips to the stadium. Leicester City, who have just been relegated to League One, have a 100% record from their two trips to Wembley, which saw them win the FA Cup in 2021. Both Portsmouth and Wigan have won two of their three trips to Wembley, both winning an FA Cup courtesy of that record. We then have the first foreign teams with Barcelona winning the 2011 Champions League final, and Bayern Munich winning the 2013 edition – both homed at Wembley. Birmingham City won the 2011 EFL Cup final in their only trip to the ground.

Now, there’s not many instances where you can go seamlessly from Real Madrid to Swansea and Hull, but this is one of them, with each of that trio winning once at Wembley – for Los Blancos, it was the 2024 Champions League final. Newcastle and Stoke have won one of their two games at the stadium, whilst Cardiff and Watford are one from three. Everton have been to Wembley four times, but only won once, whilst both Aston Villa and Tottenham have a torrid record at the stadium, winning just once from six visits.
