Two of the biggest clubs in the world will lock horns for a place in the Champions League semi-finals. Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich is a mouthwatering encounter and the first-leg of the quarter-final takes place at the Bernabeu tonight. Madrid secured passage into the last eight with an impressive aggregate win over Manchester City, while Bayern sailed past Atalanta.
Madrid are the most decorated club in the history of European football’s most prestigious competition, lifting the trophy on 15 occasions but Bayern are the favourites to progress. Vincent Kompany’s side are destined to win another Bundesliga title but the true test of the squad will be achieving something special in Europe. Some of the best players in the world will be on show across both legs and we’ve made a combined XI of current stars based on transfer fees.
Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich most expensive XI
Seven Real Madrid players and four Bayern Munich players feature in the combined XI with the transfer fees totalling €664 million. The most expensive signing still at either club is Jude Bellingham, who cost Madrid €127m from Bayern Munich. Bellingham’s England captain Harry Kane is Bayern’s record signing at €95m and he forms the front three alongside current teammates Michael Olise and Luis Díaz.

As the graphic above illustrates, Bellingham is joined in midfield alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni. Kim Min-Jae is the only other Bayern player to feature, forming a centre back partnership with Dean Huijsen. Despite only costing €10m, Trent Alexander-Arnold features at right-back with Thibaut Courtois the goalkeeper.
