For many players, playing in the Champions League is the pinnacle of the game. No club competition in world football carries the same pedigree. This season, we are now approaching the business end, with the round of 16 second legs set to get underway next week. But for a select group of valuable players, they haven’t ever quite made it to that level.

Here at Transfermarkt, we have picked out the 10 most valuable players to have never made an appearance in the Champions League before. Some are youngsters waiting for there opportunity, others more experienced players who have just never been lucky enough to be at a club competing. Let’s take a look who makes the list.

The most valuable players to never play in the Champions League

Leading the way is Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. The 23-year-old has seen his market value sky-rocket up to €80 million as he has asserted himself as one of the Premier League’s most potent attackers since leaving Manchester City three years ago. The Englishman is being linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and if Villa fail to get Champions League football, they will most likely find it hard to hold on to him beyond this summer. In second place is another player worth €80m, but second due to being three years older – Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroonian has enjoyed a stellar first season at Old Trafford, and will be hoping to play in the Champions League with the Red Devils next term.

in third place is Crystal Palace’s 22-year-old midfielder Adam Wharton (€60m), who worked his way up from the Championship to become a top Premier League player, as well as an England international. Nottingham Forest’s 26-year-old Morgan Gibbs-White (€60m) takes fourth position – he was close to a move to Tottenham last summer, which would have, in turn, allowed him to play in the Champions League. Brighton’s Carlos Baleba (€55m) rounds off the top five.

In sixth place is Man United defender Leny Yoro – the 20-year-old defender has a market value of €50m. In seventh is 23-year-old defender Murillo (€50m), followed by another 23-year-old defender in Levi Colwill (€50m). We then have the first non-Premier League player with Roma’s Manu Koné (€50m), and then completing the top 10 is Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye (€50m).
