Bragging rights are an important part of football culture. Whether it be dominating tournaments, weighing one trophy cabinet against another or simply winning the derbies that matter the most, football fans love nothing more than comparing one club to another. One somewhat intangible metric which is often wheeled out in such debates is the size of each club’s support. How popular any given team is in their respective country and across the world. Of course, such a thing is almost impossible to measure and compare. Until, of course, UEFA release their Financial Landscape report each and every year, and the world of football can finally take a peek at which of Europe’s biggest clubs have sold the most football tops in the previous calendar year. So let’s take a look.
UEFA have confirmed that the club that made the most money from merchandising and kit sales in 2025 were none other than LaLiga giants Barcelona, who earned €277 million over the course of the year. According to the federation, that number constitutes a 63% increase on the previous year’s figure and is €46m more than second-placed Real Madrid. As we can see in the table below, the Spanish giants are comfortably ahead of the rest of Europe’s biggest clubs in this regard, with Bayern Munich claiming third place after their revenue from merchandising and kit sales rose by 11% to an impressive figure of €189m – which essentially makes the Bundesliga perennial champions the third most popular club in the world based on this metric.

After we step away from the top three, we begin to see the Premier League dominate the rest of the list. From 4th to 20th, there are no fewer than seven clubs from the English top-flight. Manchester United and Arsenal take fourth and fifth place, followed by Liverpool and Tottenham in sixth and seventh spot respectively, and then Chelsea (ninth), Manchester City (11th) and Newcastle (18th). When we couple the English contingent with Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in 20th place, it means that eight of the top 20 clubs in the world by kit and merchandising revenue reside within the top 20. They’re joined by three clubs from Turkey – Galatasaray (8th), Fenerbahce (12th) and Besiktas (17th) – while AC Milan (13th), Juventus (15th) and Inter Milan (16th) fly the flag for Serie A. French giants Paris Saint-Germain in 10th place and Eredivisie side Ajax (19th) are the sole representatives from France and the Netherlands respectively.
