Maximilian Ibrahimović, the son of iconic Swedish international Zlatan, has joined one of his father’s former clubs, Ajax. The 19-year-old has departed AC Milan – where his father is an influential advisor – to join the Dutch giants on an initial loan deal with a permanent option. Ibrahimovic joined AC Milan from Hammarby in 2022 but he failed to break into the first-team and he’s excited about joining one of the best clubs in Europe for developing youngsters.
Speaking to the Ajax website, Ibrahimovic said: ”I am my own person and player, and I want to write my own story. I feel good. I’m excited. It’s nice that my father also played for Ajax. I am happy that I get the opportunity to continue developing myself here as well.I am here to do my own thing. And I am really looking forward to that.”

Ibrahimović has been training with AC Milan’s first-team recently and travelled with Massimiliano Allegri’s squad for the Supercoppa clash against Napoli last month. The winger has been in terrific form for AC’s youth side this season in Serie D with nine goal contributions in 16 games but his future will lie with Ajax.
There was significant interest in Ibrahimovic from rival Eredivisie clubs but he opted to join Ajax. He will now train with Fred Grim’s first-team squad and play with Jong Ajax until he’s ready to make his professional debut. Ibrahimović recently received his first call-up to the Swedish U18 squad and his current market value on Transfermarkt is €300k. Zlatan famously made his name at Ajax, scoring 48 goals across 110 appearances before joining Juventus and becoming one of the greatest strikers of his generation.
