Fenerbahce and N’Golo Kanté’s representatives have held direct talks over a potential January move. The 34-year-old’s contract at Al Ittihad expires in the summer and Fener are hopeful of agreeing a fee with the Saudi club to bring Kanté back to Europe. The Turkish giants have made a contract proposal to Kante with talks now expected between the two clubs, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The French international opted for the riches of the Saudi Pro League in 2023 when his contract with Chelsea expired but it’s understood that he’s open to a move to Fener. Kanté was a surprise inclusion in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for Euro 2024 and he’s expected to be named in the squad for the upcoming World Cup. It remains to be seen whether Al Ittihad will sanction a sale halfway through the Saudi Pro League season but talks are underway.

N’Golo Kante in talks over Fenerbahce move

Although he’s in the twilight years of his career, Kanté would be a major coup for Fenerbahce in their bid to win the Süper Lig title. Fener are currently just three points behind Galatasaray in the title race and they defeated their arch rivals in the Turkish Super Cup at the weekend. Fener haven’t been crowned kings of Turkiyie since 2014 but Kanté’s mooted arrival would provide them a major boost.

The midfielder is still entrusted by Deschamps to start for France and the Super Lig isn’t of the standard of the major European leagues. During his pomp at Chelsea and Leicester, Kanté was indisputably one of the best midfielders in the world and he’s won two Premier League titles and the Champions League during his career.
