It was another disappointing night for Manchester City as they dropped more points in the title race after a 1-1 draw with Brighton, but it was another landmark evening for Erling Haaland. City drew their third consecutive game with Arsenal now overwhelming favourites to win the Premier League title but Haaland notched his 150th goal for the club. The 25-year-old has been an absolute revelation since joining City from Borussia Dortmund for €60 million in 2022.

Haaland has won two Premier League titles and the Champions League but it’s his phenomenal goalscoring numbers that sets him apart from his peers. The Norwegian international is the most prolific goalscorer on the planet and he’s set a number of impressive records this season. Haaland became the quickest player to reach 100 Premier League goals and the fastest to register 50 in the Champions League. But did the Man City striker reach 150 goals for a single club in the fewest games this century? Let’s find out!

The quickest players to reach 150 club goals

The answer is no. It took Haaland 179 games to reach that milestone but there was one player who achieved it significantly faster, Cristano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar incredibly only needed 149 games to score 150 goals for Real Madrid, scoring at a rate of more than one goal per game. As the graphic below illustrates, Zlatan Ibrahimović ranks third with the Swedish icon requiring 176 games to bring up the landmark for PSG.

The top ten list is stacked with some of the best attacking talent across the last three decades with clubs from all the top five leagues represented. Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappé complete the top five with Edinson Cavani the third PSG player to feature. Ciro Immobile is the only player from a Serie A club to feature, after scoring 150 goals for Lazio in 217. Interestingly, Lionel Messi narrowly misses out on the top ten list with the Barcelona legend ranking 12th.
