Arsenal are leading the race to sign Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers with a deal understood to be edging closer. The 17-year-old is currently on a scholarship contract at the English Championship club but he has no intention of committing his long-term future to the club with his current deal expiring in 2026.
According to reputable Arsenal account HandofArsenal, Mikel Arteta’s men had two bids rejected last summer, with the highest reported to be around €3 million. Tyjon has been scouted by a host of top English Premier League clubs but it’s understood that Arsenal are favourites to secure his signature. The Gunners could complete a deal during the January transfer window and Tyjon would join Arsenal’s youth teams.
Who is Arsenal target Igor Tyjon?
Tyjon made his professional debut for Blackburn last season in the English Championship against Bristol City in August 2024, but he only made one further appearance for their first-team. Tyjon is predominantly a striker but he can also be deployed from the left-wing or as an attacker midfielder.
The starlet has three goals in three appearances for Blackburn in Premier League 2 this season and he’s also represented England at youth levels. Tyjon has three goals in five appearances for England’s U18 and he featured at the recent U17 World Cup. The attacker also qualifies for Poland and represented their U16s previously.
